Tab with Hard Return
In the HTML review, you may notice that a space between paragraphs appears to be missing.
The missing space may be caused by a paragraph that contains only tab characters and a hard return, which will not show up in the HTML.
To correct the issue in your report:
- Locate the place where the space was missing in HTML
- Turn on Show Formatting Marks.
- With the report or section checked out, use Delete or Backspace to remove the tab character.
- Preview HTML again and confirm the issue is resolved.
In reviewing the HTML preview, you may notice places where it appears a space is missing between paragraphs. By opening the DM WordDisclosure Management platform for Microsoft Word report, we can verify the cause. In my report, I went to the same section where the space is missing. Next, turn on Show Formatting Marks on your Home ribbon. Notice that there is a hard return between those two paragraphs but that it has a tab character in front of it. If a paragraph contains only tab characters and a hard return, that line or blank space will not show up in the HTML. To correct the issue, make sure the section or document is checked out, place your cursor next to the tab, and use backspace or delete to remove it. Now I can run the HTML preview again to confirm the issue is resolved. Now the space between paragraphs shows normally in HTML.
