Section Breaks

Placement

  • Use section breaks only where needed for a change in page numbering, headers, footers, margins, or page orientation (landscape or portrait). Review for consistency of margins and header/footer spacing (Header from Top and Footer from Bottom) across all sections.
  • Avoid placing a section break inside any report section. It can prevent check out or cause extra spacing in headers or footers.

Working with Section Breaks

  • Search for section breaks using Find (Ctrl + F) and "^b".
  • Use Section Break (Next Page), rather than Section Break (Continuous). To change the section break type, place your cursor in the text after it. On the Layout ribbon, click the Page Setup launch button. On the Layout tab, if you set Section start to New Page and click OK, it will become a Section Break (Next Page)
